Learn how to host a traditional afternoon high tea experience with an opportunity to also have your tea leaves read, a skill passed down from a grandmother to her oldest granddaughter! In this class, you will learn how to host a high tea & some of the history behind high tea, read tea leaves, prepare a Kiwi influenced spread that includes ginger snap cookies, shortbread, pikelets (mini pancakes covered in fresh jam, butter, and lemon curd!), and tea sandwiches. We will close the class by enjoying our tea and of course unfolding your future with the tea leaves left in your cup! Each participant will go home with family recipes & a half dozen of each of the baked goods. Light snack and tea/sparkling water provided. Feel free to bring your beverage of choice.

Sept. 24 - 2-4 PM

Location: Downtown Austin- Address will be mailed 48 hours before class.

About Wesley Ellison: !  was raised mostly in Northern California, on butter. My formative years were spent enjoying my mother’s approach to cooking—butter, bulk, simple. Cooking principals that are, as far as I know, revered by all women in charge of feeding four large big-boned children. I also enjoyed a few childhood years spent in my father’s birthplace, Christchurch, New Zealand. This is where my loyalty to homespun, farm-to-table fresh ingredients comes from, I think. Also thanks to the Kiwis and my father: a passion for sugar, dairy and total reckless indulgence. In 32 years, I’ve also been lucky enough to live in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Ann Arbor, Charlottesville, and now Austin, Texas! The passion stringing these temporary homes (and my life) together, the only substance that keeps me who I am wherever I am: food. Day to day, I wear my Assistant Athletics Director hat for Texas Athletics - as a lifelong athlete, food has always been multi-purposed! You can check out my website here!
